An Audience With Deputy Health Minister,
YB Datuk Rosnah Shirlin Binti Hj Abdul Rashid Shirlin
An audience was held on 15th March 2012 at the Ministry of Health, Putrajaya.
It was agreed that Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation Malaysia (WSFFM) should work closely
with The Ministry of Health to campaign for sports to be an everyday part of
life for Malaysians. A healthy population will help in the prevention of chronic diseases, such as
diabetes, obesity, heart disease and cancer. This will help to reduce health care costs and thus
reduce the burden on our country’s economy.
YB Datuk Rosnah encouraged WSFFM to make their STICK2STIX™aerobics a nationwide program to
help improve the health and well-being of all races. ‘We must change the mindset of people towards
a more healthy lifestyle by being more active ’, said the Deputy Health Minister.
WSFFM is to submit a working paper to ‘MYSIHAT’ to request funding for their activities like the
4×4 outdoor challenge and the STICK2STIX™ aerobics.
‘MYSIHAT’ is a statutory body under the umbrella of Ministry of Health established to provide
funding to run more healthy lifestyle programs through sporting activities.
The Ministry of Health has maintained that it is one of their priorities to make it possible for
everyone to play sports or to be physically active.
