Launch of the new edition of the Stick2stix handbook 3rd November 2014

The new edition of the Stick2stix handbook was launched at Menara PNB, Jalan Tun Razak, KL on the 3rd November 2014

The updated handbook entitled “Introduction and Guidelines- an easy to follow exercise guide” was sponsored by Chemical Company Malaysia Bhd (CCM), and was launched by Dato’ Sri Dr Azalina Bt Dato’ Othman Said , Chairman of CCM.

Speaking at the launch, Dato’ Sri Dr Azalina Bt Dato’ Othman Said reiterated that exercise is a way to keep fit and healthy so as to avoid chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes which are on the rise in our country.

“We must not neglect to care for our own health as a fit body also contributes to an agile mind. In fact, various countries especially in Europe place great importance on promoting a healthy lifestyle among its citizens as fitness helps to improve the public’s health, physically as well as mentally. Therefore, we should make it a point to include exercise into our daily routine,” she added.

This unique workout using a lightweight wooden stick which measures up to four feet (1.2 meters) long and 3.8 centimetres wide is fun and enjoyable.

“This workout is versatile, affordable and what’s more it is practical for all ages. Through Stick2Stix, we want to create awareness among Malaysians that workout need not be a dreary task but can be an enjoyable activity,” explained Puan Sri To’ Puan Datuk Shariffa Sabrina Bt Syed Akil, president of Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation Malaysia (WSFFM).

During the launch, 150 employees of CCM took part in the fun and unique Stick2Stix workout.

CCM’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Encik Leonard Ariff Abdul Shatar highlighted the importance of instilling healthy lifestyle habits into our busy and stressful everyday schedules. He reminded all the employees that leading a healthy lifestyle will also add to productivity at work.
