Women learn about health and fitness

Fitness First partnered with the Women’s Sports and Fitness Foundation (WSFFM) last week to organise a women’s wellness programme titled “Bring Out the Beautiful You” at Fitness First’s outlet at The Curve.

With the objective of promoting health and fitness among women, spreading awareness and educating women on the importance of making exercise as part of their lifestyle, the programme was attended by 100 energetic participants.

“As part of our continuous corporate social responsibility effort in educating and promoting fun and healthier lifestyles for all, the event is indeed a testament that our community outreach certainly goes beyond our world class facilities and services.

“We have dared to be different by going beyond the call of a health club,” said managing director for Fitness First Malaysia Eric Van Niekerk.

“It is our philosophy to contribute to the betterment of the society and what better way to educate and empower our nation than to empower them in being an advocate of their own health.”

The event also included educational health talks delivered by professional speakers, including consultant breast surgeon Dr Azlina Firzah Abdul Aziz, who delivered a talk titled “Being Breast Aware — Can Save Life” and executive director of the WSFFM Dr Shamala K. Subramaniam, who talked about women and sports in Malaysia.

The tail end of the event featured Flow Yoga which was designed by Fitness First in three formats—Gentle Flow, Dynamic Flow and Hot Flow, allowing participants to select the mode according to their fitness level and experience.
